finding the medium

being a parent is harder than it looks.  i remember being a confident young woman in my twenties and thinking that i would be the perfect parent one day.  boy was i wrong!  i figure it out on a wing and a prayer most days.  it's amazing when you can tell the kind of day your kids will have based on their level of cooperation in the mornings.  not only that, but when i realized early in the day that "karat's" teacher was out and he had a sub... well, i knew we were in for a rainbow of changes on the color chart!  sure enough, both kiddos earned their way right out of gymnastics tonight and into their rooms with no electronics.  quite the shock for them; quite the peaceful evening for me!

in those moments of peace, i wondered if my methods were effective.  did they care about missing gymnastics?  did they appreciate the lesson i was trying to teach them?  i sometimes want to hear from the Lord if i passed the test or not.  many times i fear i have failed - and with parenting, it feels like you only have one time to get it right or you will ruin a little life forever!  unfortunately, i do not know yet if i failed.  sounds a lot like the state testing system!  ha!  but i digress...

Lord, help me to be the best parent i can be to "chip" and "karat".  and help "poppa c" find the time and dedication to read the two parenting books i found for us so that he can share with me ideas to make our parenting style better.  i thought we would be able to do the parenting book studies together, but the doc program is kicking my tail!  i'm not weaseling out... i'm just delegating the reading to the man of the family!

pray for peace and effectiveness and i will do the same for you and yours.
